In all types of power station machine, the stator must be anchored to a centred, precisely aligned foundation. After a while, these foundations will settle, which causes the fit between stator and rotor to be displaced. This will affect the efficiency of the machine.

Whether in a coal-fired, nuclear, hydro or oil-fired power station, the stator must be corrected after a certain time. This job requires new holes to be drilled in the foundation for guide bolts. Norsk Hydro replaced these guide bolts with Bondura® bolts, thus reducing the repair time from 7 to 3 days, and the crew from 3 people, the normal number, to 1 person.
